About This Course

This course aims to equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them to carry out First Aid to casualties encompassing a variety of conditions or injures.

Attendees

The course is designed for participants who require a basic understanding of First Aid for the home and workplace.

Workshop Content

  • Comply with the Australia Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines

  • Principles of First Aid

  • Legal responsibilities

  • Follow the DRSABCD strategy

  • Adult and infant CPR techniques

  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Basic anatomy and physiology

  • Movement of the sick or injured

  • First aid procedures for the treatment of medical conditions such as cardiac, respiratory, allergic reactions, seizures, exposure to extreme temperatures, conditions involving medications and substance abuse

  • First aid procedures for the treatment of fractures, bleeding, burns, eye injuries, snake / spider and marine bites and stings

Inclusions

  • Pre-reading prior to course commencement

  • 1 day Perth or site based face to face (Includes: All practical assessments)

Assessment

Students will be required to complete practical and theory assessments to demonstrate competence

Certification

Successful students will receive the following nationally recognised qualifications:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
