About This Course

This course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them to carry out First Aid to casualties, encompassing a variety conditions or injures. This course offers a practical, hands on approach to the provision of First Aid improving patient outcomes.

Attendees

This qualification reflects workers who provide initial pre-hospital and out-of-hospital basic health care response and assessment to patients requiring urgent medical services. The provision of urgent clinical care includes providing basic life support. The qualification applies to people working in a variety of roles within the health care system.

  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator(AED)

  • First aid procedures for the treatment of injuries/fractures and bleeds

  • Advanced emergency medical first response

  • Medical Conditions / Medications

  • Set up of an oxygen delivery system

Duration

12 month allocation to complete 16 units of study (Includes: 15 online units via external self-paced study)

Pre-requisites

No skill pre-requisites are required for this course. Participants are required to complete the course pre-reading and online hand hygiene module prior to the course

Inclusions

Assessment

Students will be required to complete practical and theory assessments to demonstrate competence

Certification

Successful students will receive the following nationally recognised qualifications:

  • HLT41120 Certificate IV in Health Care
