About This Course

To equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide First Aid, encompassing a variety conditions or injuries. This course aims to offer a practical, hands on approach to First Aid, improving patient outcomes.

Attendees

This course is designed to bridge the gap between First Aid and practical instinctive based training. E.A.R.T.H. is targeted at Emergency Response team members.

Workshop Content

  • Comply with the Australia Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines

  • Principles of First Aid

  • Legal responsibilities

  • Identifying Mental Health Disorders

  • Follow the Five Point Plan

  • DRABCDE strategy

  • Vital sign survey

  • Secondary survey

  • CNS survey

  • Adult and infant CPR techniques

  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Basic anatomy and physiology

  • First aid procedures for the treatment of medical conditions

  • First aid procedures for the treatment of injuries

  • Movement of the sick or injured

  • Oxygen saturation levels (SPo2)

  • Blood sugar levels (BSL)

  • Overview of pain management

  • Prepare resuscitation equipment

  • Use of the bag valve mask equipment

  • Set up of an oxygen delivery system

  • Administer oxygen

  • Operate suction equipment

  • Maintain and rectify minor faults of equipment

Duration

4 days face to face including all practical assessments

Pre-requisites

No pre-requisites are required for this course. Participants are required to complete the pre-reading

Inclusions

  • Pre-reading prior to course commencement

  • 4 days face to face training including all practical assessments

Assessment

Students will be required to complete practical and theory assessments to verify competence

Certification

Successful students will receive the following nationally recognised qualifications:

  • E.A.R.T.H. Certificate of Attainment for E.A.R.T.H.
  • HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation & Oxygen Therapy
  • HTTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
